As parents, we know it\u2019s important for kids to understand limits and boundaries, but we also know not all screen time is created equal.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

How kids use their devices goes beyond screen time: letting them listen to music in the background as they work, check in with mom or dad when they\u2019re out the house, or supporting their wellbeing with health tools. Shutting them off from these resources once screen time\u2019s up can be frustrating.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

New for Android users, <\/span>Always allowed is our latest feature<\/b> introduced to ensure access to those much-needed apps while others stay blocked. <\/span><\/p>\n

What is Always allowed?<\/b><\/h2>\n

The digital world isn\u2019t black or white – while we might want to set a healthy limit on screen time to help reduce endless content streams, keep tabs on gaming activity, or shut off social feeds, there\u2019s no denying that children still need access to digital tools that can help make their lives (and yours) much easier! As time goes by, <\/span>you can add or remove apps from your child\u2019s Always allowed list<\/b>, giving kids and teens a more age-appropriate experience and keeping up with your family\u2019s changing needs.<\/span><\/p>\n

Always allowed helps you navigate those gray areas by giving kids access to apps that are important to their learning and development, tools that help them stay in touch and connect with others, or simply apps that they enjoy using – it\u2019s your call.<\/span><\/p>\n

How to set up Always allowed<\/b><\/h2>\n

Getting started is simple. With the latest update, you can make sure your kids\u2019 key apps are always accessible*:<\/span><\/p>\n

Open the Rules section<\/b><\/p>\n

Head to your <\/span>Parent Dashboard<\/b> and go to your child\u2019s <\/span>Rules<\/b>. This is where you control app access and screen time limits.<\/span><\/p>\n

Go to Games & apps<\/b><\/p>\n

Tap on <\/span>Games & apps<\/b> to see all the apps installed on your child\u2019s device.<\/span><\/p>\n

Choose the apps to allow\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

Pick the app you want your child to keep using, such as Spotify for music or an educational app for homework, and check \u2018<\/span>Always allowed<\/b>\u2019. The app will now stay accessible even during downtime events like <\/span>Routines<\/b> or <\/span>Family pause<\/b><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Use the filter for easy management<\/b><\/p>\n

If you have multiple Always allowed apps, filtering makes it easy. Open the filter menu in <\/span>Games & apps<\/b> and select <\/span>Always allowed<\/b>. You will see only the apps you have approved.<\/span><\/p>\n
